Download the generic Day Planner 0.11 installer package.

GNOME
Right click on the downloaded file and select properties. Click on the permissions tab. Tick off "Allow executing file as program" or the "Execute" box next to "Owner:" (depending on your GNOME version). Then click close. Now click on the downloaded file. If it asks you if you want to execute it, say yes. Then follow the instructions on the screen

KDE
Right click on the downloaded file and select properties. Click on the permissions tab. Check the Execute, Exec or Is Executable checkbox. If there are more than one Execute/Exec checkboxes, check the top-most one. Then click ok. Now click on the downloaded file. If it asks you if you want to execute it, say yes. Then follow the instructions on the screen

Generic
Open up a commandline. Run the command sh ./dayplanner-0.11.run from the directory containing that file, then follow the instructions on the screen.
